Jesus is Our Healer

Jesus is Our Healer: A Faith Challenge

In a world filled with uncertainty and struggle, we need to remember a powerful truth: Jesus is our healer, and He is present with us right now in all His resurrection power. This isn't just a theological concept—it's a reality that should transform how we approach every challenge, especially when facing sickness and adversity.

Who is Really in Our Midst?

When Jesus spoke to the religious leaders of His day, He reminded them that "one greater than Jonah is here" and "one greater than Solomon is here." The same truth applies to us today. Jesus promised that "where two or three are gathered together, there I am in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:20).

But here's the question we must ask ourselves: Do we see Jesus as ordinary, or do we recognize Him as the resurrected King, robed in power and glory? The one in our midst isn't just a historical figure—He's our healer, full of resurrection power.

What Changed Everything:

The Power of the Cross

The cross of Jesus Christ changed everything. It changed time itself—everything is now measured as before and after Jesus. More importantly, it changed our access to God's power and healing.

What the Cross Accomplished

Through His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus:

  • Took back the authority the devil had stolen in the Garden of Eden
  • Made salvation available to all who believe
  • Opened the way for us to enter God's presence without sacrifice
  • Provided freedom from every kind of bondage
  • Released healing for our physical, mental, and emotional needs

The Bible declares, "By His wounds we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). This healing was released at the cross—it's already available to us.

Why Do We Struggle with Faith for Healing?

One of the biggest challenges we face is believing God's healing power for ourselves. It's easy to encourage others and say "Jesus is your healer," but when it comes to our own situations, doubt can creep in.

Common Faith Killers

Several things can undermine our faith:

  • Questions and arguments: "Why didn't that person get healed?" or "I've been waiting so long, is it real?"
  • The "what ifs": "What if it doesn't work?" or "What if I'm wrong?"
  • Mixed faith: Combining doubt with belief, which doesn't produce supernatural results
  • Seeking healing instead of the Healer: Focusing on the miracle rather than Jesus Himself

How Do We Build Unshakeable Faith?

Make a Decision to Believe

Faith starts with a simple decision: "I choose to believe." This isn't based on feelings or circumstances, but on the unchangeable Word of God.

Cast Down Arguments and Doubts

The Bible tells us to "cast down arguments" (2 Corinthians 10:5). When doubts bombard your mind, you must take authority over them. Remember Peter walking on water—as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he stayed above the storm. When he looked at the waves, doubt came in and he sank.

Accept That Some Things Are Mysteries

The Bible says "the secret things belong to the Lord" (Deuteronomy 29:29). We don't need to understand everything to maintain our faith. In the middle of mystery, we have the eternal, unchangeable Word of God.

What Does True Transformation Look Like?

Many people get saved but never truly repent—they become saved but not transformed. True transformation involves:

  • Renewing your mind: Learning to think like Jesus thinks
  • Complete surrender: Making Jesus Lord of every area of life, including your time
  • Seeking Jesus first: When challenges come, is He your first thought?

Jesus didn't see storms, sickness, or demonic mountains as problems. When we learn to think like He thinks, we begin to live in the supernatural.

A Biblical Example: The Nobleman's Faith

In John 4:46-54, we read about a nobleman whose son was sick. When he came to Jesus for help, Jesus challenged his faith, saying, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe."

After this challenge, Jesus gave him a simple word: "Go your way, your son lives." The remarkable thing is that the man believed the word Jesus spoke and went his way—without doubt, without "what ifs," without asking for more proof.

When he arrived home, not only was his son healed, but his entire household believed. Sometimes it takes just one person in a family to walk in faith for the supernatural to break out and affect everyone.

Practical Steps for Receiving Healing

Follow Biblical Protocol

James 5:14-15 instructs us: "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick."

While there's nothing wrong with seeking medical help, our first stop should always be Jesus. His strategies should be our first thought.

Seek the Healer, Not Just Healing

Instead of being so focused on getting healed that we miss it, we should seek Jesus Himself. When we pursue the Healer, our healing will come.

The Power of Corporate Faith

Individual faith is powerful, but corporate faith—when an entire congregation believes together—releases unlimited power. This includes:

  • Corporate praise and worship
  • Corporate prayer meetings
  • United belief that nothing is impossible

The church is God's answer to a struggling world, and He has chosen us to demonstrate His power through corporate faith.

Will He Find Faith?

Jesus asked a penetrating question in Luke 18:8: "When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" This challenges us to examine our own hearts. When Jesus comes into our worship, our prayers, our daily lives—does He find faith?

The parable of the persistent widow teaches us about persistent faith that doesn't give up. We need this kind of faith for breakthrough, transformation, and revival.

Life Application

This week, make a conscious decision to seek Jesus first in every challenge you face. Whether it's health issues, financial struggles, relationship problems, or any other difficulty, let your first response be to turn to the Healer rather than immediately seeking other solutions.

Practice casting down doubts and "what if" thoughts when they arise. Remember that the cross is real, Jesus is powerful, and nothing is impossible for those who believe.

Questions for Reflection:

  • When challenges arise in my life, is Jesus truly my first thought and first resource?
  • What doubts or "what ifs" do I need to cast down and refuse to entertain?
  • Am I seeking healing, or am I seeking the Healer Himself?
  • How can I contribute to building corporate faith in my church community?
  • If Jesus examined my heart today, would He find genuine, expectant faith?

The supernatural Christian life isn't just for a select few—it's available to everyone who will live it God's way. The cross has made everything possible. The question is: will you choose to believe and step into the impossible?
